An informational meeting on the architectural plans for the Derby Recreation Center renovation will be open to the public on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the DRC.
This informational meeting will be presented by Schaefer Johnson Cox and Frey Architecture. The presentation will give an overview of the remodel project and will include conceptual renderings of the proposed exterior and interior. Time will be available for public questions and input.
The DRC remodel is a proposed $3.7 million project, to be funded through bonds issued by the city of Derby. The current bonds that financed the construction of the existing DRC will expire in December 2012.
The new bond obligations will be paid through funding that currently pays existing bond debt. No new tax increases will be requested to fund this project.
The remodel project highlights include an expanded fitness center, the addition of activity studios for classes, the addition of an expanded and updated childcare area and improvements to the interior and exterior of the center.
The DRC is located at 801 E. Market in Derby, and serves residents of Derby Public Schools and surrounding areas. For more information, visit www.derbyrec.com or call 788-3781.
