Chelsea Chilcott
Chelsea Chilcott, Miss Arkansas Valley 2012, is in Pratt this week for the 2012 Miss Kansas competition. She was crowned Feb. 4 at Belle Plaine.
In addition to the Miss Kansas crown and title, the young women will be competing for several thousand dollars in scholarships and special awards. Miss Kansas 2012 will represent the state at the Miss America Pageant in January at Las Vegas.
Rehearsals began Sunday. On Wednesday the 31 contestants will have private interviews with the panel of five judges. On-stage competitions will be held Thursday and Friday evenings with the finals on Saturday, June 9.
As a member of the Kappa group, Chilcott will compete in talent Thursday and in on-stage interview, swimsuit and evening wear on Friday.
Chilcott is a ventriloquist and for her talent performance will sing “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart’ with two of her friends.
Her Miss America platform is “Building the Circle,” based on peer mentoring.

Chilcott is the daughter of Bart Chilcott and Diane Chilcott, Derby. She recently completed her freshman year at Butler County College, majoring in mass communications with a minor in audio engineering.
