Chelsea Chilcott of Derby finished in the Top 10 in the Miss Kansas pageant on Saturday in Pratt.

Miss Kansas 2012 is Sloane Lewis, 20, of Norwich. She competed as Miss Wooded Hills.

Chilcott, 19 and Miss Arkansas Valley titleholder, received a $1,050 scholarship from the Miss Kansas organization. She will enter her second year at Butler County Community College this fall, where she is majoring in mass communications.  

Chilcott was also one of four finalists for the Quality of Life Award from Miss Kansas. The award is community service based and Chilcott had over 111 hours of volunteer service over the past year. 

Her Miss America platform is “Building the Circle,” based on peer mentoring.

Chilcott is the daughter of Bart Chilcott and Diane Chilcott, Derby. 

Another Derby student, Elizabeth Mitchell was the second runner-up in the Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen competition held on Friday as part of the Miss Kansas festivities. She also received an Academic Achievement Award as part of the competition.

Mitchell, 17, competed as Miss Prairie Rose Outstanding Teen. She performed a piano solo.
