Fireworks can be purchased and shot in Derby, beginning Wednesday, June 27, and through July 5. Fireworks can be shot from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., June 27 through July 2. On July 3 and July 4, they can be shot 8 a.m. to midnight. On July 5, they can be shot from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Those who shoot fireworks are asked to remember the hours and be courteous to their neighbors by following them.
If illegal shooting occurs, residents can call 911 and report them. The holidays are a busy time for 911 dispatchers, so residents are asked to be aware of legal shooting times before making a report to 911.
From 6 p.m. on July 4 to 3 a.m. on July 5, those with complaints about fireworks are asked to call 290-1011 instead of 911.
