A former employee of Derby Hills Elementary charged with aggravated indecent liberties of a child is set to have a jury trial on May 14.
Alfred R. Rocheleau, 71, was formally charged Jan. 27 in Sedgwick County District Court. According to the complaint filed in Sedgwick County District Court, the charges stem from an incident involving a 4-year-old child
The single count against Rocheleau is a felony and occurred during 2011, according to the complaint filed in district court.
The Derby Public Schools Board of Education terminated Rocheleau’s employment during its Jan. 23 meeting. Rocheleau worked one-on-one with students and in small group settings. The parents of those students have been personally notified of the allegations, according to Principal Debbie Sanders.
The school has said it has no indication of any improper touching in the educational setting, both school officials and law enforcement said.
