Joseph Allen Honer

MULVANE - Joseph Allen Honer, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, after a short battle with West Nile virus. A Celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Faith Lutheran Church, 214 S. Derby, Derby; burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery, El Dorado, at 2 p.m.

He was born May 14, 1927 to Joseph and Nora Marie Honer of Denton. Joe served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He recently participated in the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Joe retired from Williams Pipeline Company in 1987 after 40 years of service.

Preceding Joe in death was his former wife of 52 years, Clara Marie Honer; brother, Jack Honer; and sister, Betty Delzeit.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Honer; children, Nancy Ayers (Max) of Mulvane, Dr. Craig Honer (Karen) of San Antonio, Texas, Julie Pritchard (Don) of Augusta, Mark Honer (Teresa) of Shawnee; stepchildren, Charles L. Miser (Gloria) of Arkansas City, Marsha Beckner of Wichita, Kerry Miser of Derby, Marlene Rose (John) of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Barbara Will of Topeka, Rosemary Helmstetter of Denton; sister-in-law, Norma Honer of Atchison; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Faith Lutheran School, 214 S. Derby, Derby, Kan. 67037.
